MERR's annual dolphin count
Every July, MERR volunteers participate in MERR's annual dolphin count, lining the coast and inland bays to gather valuable data on our local Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphin population.
Below is a map the reflects our most recent data. Volunteers are stationed at pre-designated observation points from Fenwick Island to Woodland Beach. Results from this count will help to determine population stability in our region.
If you, or someone you know, is interested in taking part of this year's count, mark your calendar for JULY 19 and registration opens in June. Watchers can register for a one-hour shift between 9 to 11 a.m. at one of the designated locations. For more information, or to volunteer when registration opens, contact 302-410-8700 or e-mail merrinstitute@gmail.com
